  1. S : km 0 - alt. 216 m
  2. 1 : km 0 - alt. 216 m - From the train station, follow the Trans Pennine Trail westwards.
  3. 2 : km 1.65 - alt. 227 m - Follow the signed path into the fields
  4. 3 : km 1.79 - alt. 228 m - At the crossroads of footpaths, turn right.
  5. 4 : km 2.55 - alt. 281 m - Follow Cross Lane to the crossroads.
  6. 5 : km 3.43 - alt. 292 m - Turn right at the crossroads.
  7. 6 : km 4.68 - alt. 349 m - Just after the duck pond (on the right), take the signed footpath on the right.
  8. 7 : km 4.86 - alt. 357 m - Take a track on an obvious track on the left (you may have to duck under a piece of wood. Follow this track to the summit of Hartcliff Hill.
  9. 8 : km 5.08 - alt. 357 m - Descend on a steep track to the road.
  10. 9 : km 5.19 - alt. 329 m - Follow the road westwards.
  11. 10 : km 6.18 - alt. 286 m - Turn left at the crossroads.
  12. 11 : km 6.68 - alt. 300 m - Turn right on to the signed bridleway. Follow this to the A616.
  13. 12 : km 7.48 - alt. 289 m - Cross the road (take care) and follow the signed footpath on the other side.
  14. 13 : km 7.66 - alt. 285 m - Turn right along the forestry track.
  15. 14 : km 8.01 - alt. 277 m - Continue along the track at the T junction of forestry roads.
  16. 15 : km 8.22 - alt. 271 m - Continue westwards at the crossroads of forestry roads.
  17. 16 : km 8.89 - alt. 307 m - Follow the fingerpost along Swinden Lane.
  18. 17 : km 9.61 - alt. 320 m - Turn left and follow the Landrover track (Hordron Road)
  19. 18 : km 11.13 - alt. 358 m - At the junction of roads, take the westwards one.
  20. 19 : km 11.68 - alt. 378 m - At the stone buildings, head downhill and south westwards on a grassy track. This takes you to a footbridge across the beck.
  21. 20 : km 12.22 - alt. 332 m - Follow the beck upstream (keeping it on your right).
  22. 21 : km 12.38 - alt. 340 m - Cross the beck at the ford point and follow the track on the other side (it follows the ridge along the centre of the valley.
  23. 22 : km 13.62 - alt. 443 m - Follow an obvious track that heads uphill and southwards. This becomes rather vague, but keep heading southwards.
  24. 23 : km 14.38 - alt. 512 m - You cross a track running east to west (this is vague in places and you may not notice it. The Horse Stone is visible on the skyline to the south. Head across trackless moor towards it. I did pick up a vague track as I got closer to the Horse Stone.
  25. E : km 15.23 - alt. 522 m
