Description of the walk

Start in the village of Quistinic, Place Saint-Mathurin. Start sign at the corner of Rue d’Hennebont, near the shops. Park near the church.

(S/E) Facing the start sign, turn right, walk past the church and continue straight on into Rue de la Résistance.

(1) Turn left at the corner of the cemetery, then follow the sunken lane to the right. At the road, turn left to reach Keriquello.

(2) Admire the bread ovens and carry on straight ahead along the farm track. Before Villeneuve Jamain, take the path on the right and carry on straight ahead along the wide track, between the fields, to Kerléguennec.

(3) Keep left to follow a narrow path. At the farm track, turn left, then left again at the road, to reach Kerhouarn.

(4) Turn left and enter the sunken lane, which further on bends sharply to the right and rejoins the road you left earlier. Turn left and continue straight on to Kervéhennec.

(5) Continue straight ahead along the track. Back on the road, turn right, then take the track on the right before Kervégant.

(6) Stay on this path, turning right. Turn left at the T-junction and you will arrive near the Moulin de Chauzel.

(7) Turn left, then turn right onto the path lined with low walls. Head diagonally right into the woods before Rosnen. Don’t miss the granite boulders. Continue along this path, then take the sunken path on the right. At the end, turn right to reach the Kermelin Fountain.

(8) Don’t miss it. Follow the road to the left, then turn right onto the path. Turn left at the three-way junction on the sunken path. Follow it straight on. At the road, head towards the Locunolé chapel, situated on the left in the hamlet.

(9) Continue left, between the fences, until you reach a cross at the junction with the D159.

(10) Head towards Kermoizan on the left and, at the hamlet, take the path on the right, between the road sign and the bus shelter. Follow the path to the right, then go straight on to pass behind the house. Continue to the right and leave the village, passing near the barn. Stay on this path and keep left at the junction to reach Kervéhennec.

(11) Turn left twice to go round the hamlet, keep left at the junction, then head straight on to reach the Moulin du Glayo. Take care, as several paths cross here: make sure you follow the signposting for the Route des chapelles.

(12) At the junction, turn left towards the Moulin du Glayo: waterfall on the left. Head back up to the road on the left, take the sharp right-hand bend, and take the wide path on the left about a hundred metres further on. Continue straight on, overlooking the Blavet, before turning left towards Talhoët Tuchentil and reaching a cross.

(13) Head right towards Talhoët Tuchentil. Turn right at the entrance to the hamlet, then left towards Kervily.

(14) Go round the hamlet on the left. Continue along the road to the left, ignoring the paths, until you reach the one leading to Léhart.

(15) Head towards Léhart via the path on the right. Leave the hamlet on the left, then turn right at the crossroads. You can also reach the village by going straight on (16.8 km). Cross the D3 with care, and head straight on to Roduic.

(16) Turn right at the entrance to Roduic, then left, and right at the following junctions. Stay on this path. At the stream, take a short detour to the left to admire the Fontaine Sainte-Barbe.

(17) Retrace your steps, cross the stream and follow the path on the left until you reach the road.

(18) If you wish to explore the site of the Sainte-Barbe Chapel, turn right and take the small path that climbs up to the chapel situated on the promontory: a private site open to the public, 600 m round trip. Otherwise (route choice), continue left along the road running parallel to the Blavet, and you will reach the Leniotenn crossroads.

(19) Turn right after entering the hamlet. Continue straight ahead at the crossroads until you reach the railway bridge.

(20) Admire the Trémorin railway bridge, and continue to the left. Carry on straight ahead, passing close to the lock and the Trémorin power station. At the road, turn left (watch out for the village of Le Garff on the right), and continue to the bend.

(21) Follow the path on the right. Back on the road, turn right towards Coët Blavet.

(22) Take the path on the left. Don’t miss the restored Coët Blavet station on the right. In the summer months, this is a stop on the Lambel Camors/Pontivy narrow-gauge railway. Continue straight ahead, and take the path opposite at the next junction. The path approaches the railway line and runs alongside it as closely as possible. At the road, turn left towards Pont Saint-Adrien.

(23) The route continues to the left, along the road, following the Blavet. (You can also venture to the right, cross the bridge and explore Saint-Adrien and its chapel, then retrace your steps and turn right). Continue along the right bank of the Blavet and head up to the left towards the Chapelle du Temple.

(24) Retrace your steps and turn left until you reach the first junction.

(25) Head up to the left into the woods. Follow the yellow markings to the right at the crossroads and you’ll reach a junction. Turn right to reach the Lann Velin Avel promontory.

(26) At the end of the path, turn left. Continue along the signposted path which runs along the edge of the woodland and winds several times before becoming straighter and leading to a road. Cross the road and take the path opposite. At the next road, turn right, then left towards Pestigo.

(27) Take the path on the right at the entrance to the hamlet and follow it to the D3.

(28) Turn right to visit the Saint-Roch Chapel (take care).

(29) Retrace your steps.

(28) Follow the path on the right.

(30) Continue to the right, then turn left at the next junction to reach the entrance to Quistinic.

(31) Turn left and head down Rue Paul Gauguin on the left. At the end, turn right before the farm track and follow the path. At the bottom, continue along the narrow path to the left, then turn right to reach the Fontaine Saint-Mathurin. Turn left after the wash house, then follow Rue Roz to the right. Then take Rue de la Mairie on the left to return to Place Saint-Mathurin (S/E).

Very beautiful route, well marked and identified. We split it into two sections, a western route (17 km) and an eastern route (14 km), with the split between point 15 (just after Léhart, where you head straight north to reach point 30) and point 30, where you head straight towards Léhart (very easy to spot).
In summer, the route is well maintained, dry and really pleasant.
I highly recommend it!

A very pleasant walk that takes you through woodland and meadows, follows the Blavet river for a good while, and introduces you to the heritage of Quistinic. Undertaken as a trail run in February, the route is a bit muddy, but that’s to be expected at this time of year.

A lovely walk through the wooded countryside around the village of Quistinic.
A challenging walk due to the distance and the terrain.
But one to do again in the spring to visit the chapels that are closed in the autumn.
