Adelboden - Lenk

For this fourth stage, you will follow the Via Alpina to Lenk. At the Hahnenmoospass, you can enjoy views of the Wildstrubel and Wildhorn mountains and the Plaine Morte glacier. A long descent will take you to the peaceful village of Lenk in the Simme Valley.

Description of the walk

This route from Adelboden to Lenk corresponds to stage 15 of the Swiss Via Alpina (Green Vignette No. 1).

The starting point for this stage is the Hotel Bären in Adelboden

Signposting: Via Alpina Green Sticker No. 1 signs

(S) From the Hotel Bären, follow Dorfstrasse heading south-west. Pass the Silleren cable car station and look for a Via Alpina sign.

(1) Descend to the Allebach stream.

(2) Cross it and follow the Via Alpina signs. Follow the Allebach to its confluence with the Gilsbach. Turn left and follow the Gilsbach to a place called Ribestalde

(3) Following the various Via Alpina signs, follow the stream to the Bergläger/Silleren station.

(4) As indicated on the sign, go around the station and follow the small road heading south-west. Continue until you reach another Via Alpina sign at a footbridge (please note that the maps are not up to date; the footbridge is located about 70 m before the hairpin bend).

(5) Cross the footbridge and continue to the Geils cable car station.

(6) At the Via Alpina sign, make a 180° turn and take a small road back to the Hahnenmoospass and the cable car station. Refreshments are available at the Hahnenmoospass restaurant.

(7) Follow the trail down to Bühlberg.

(8) Following the various Via Alpina signs, continue to the hamlet of Brandegg. You will come to a small road and find another Via Alpina sign in a bend.

(9) Begin a steep descent towards Lenk on a path that crosses several roads. (Cross these roadscarefully; the path always resumes directly opposite). Reach the Gerbi district.

(10) Follow Rainstrasse and turn onto Bühlbergstrasse towards the centre of Lenk.

(11) Via Bühlbergstrasse, gradually enter the village centre, pass the railway station and quickly reach the Hotel Kreuz, your accommodation for the night (E).
