The Lambourn Valley Way is a delightful 32km (20 mile) mile walk, from the Ridgeway at Uffington Castle to Newbury. This circular walk goes from Lambourn to the Ridgeway past Ashdown House, along the Ridgeway past the ancient monuments of Wayland's Smithy and Uffington Castle, and returns to Lambourn along the Lambourn Valley Way. A lovely walk with much variety and interest : wild flower meadow, Watts Bank Nature Reserve, superb views of the Eastbury Downs and Lambourn nestled in the Lambourn Valley, the pretty little village of Eastbury, which has many buildings of historic interest and the Lambourn River, a seasonal chalk stream.
This walk goes up (and down) several hills and can be slippery underfoot after rain.

Start the walk at the Market Square, note the old Market Cross and the site of the Lambourn Tanker Crash of 1953, and enjoy the river and countryside around Lambourn.

This is a walk through woodlands and along the open fields to the South-East of Lambourn.

This route describes the second part of this walk, from Lambourn to Newbury, including an optional visit to Donnington Castle. It mostly follows the bank of the River Lambourn or the route of the dismantled Lambourn Valley Railway.
