Start from Les Mureaux station (SNCF J line).
(S) Exit on the north side and walk along Avenue Paul Raoult on the left-hand pavement. When you reach a complex interchange-style junction, stay on the pavement that turns left. At the first set of traffic lights, cross over and continue straight ahead onto Avenue Félix Faure. At the four-way junction, continue straight ahead onto Rue Albert Glandaz and arrive at the banks of the Seine.
(1) Continue along Rue Albert Glandaz to the right and follow the Seine along its left bank, initially on the road which ends and becomes a footpath/cycle path. Walk past the ESA-Ariane site, then the path turns into a footpath. Continue to the marina.
(2) Go round the basin on the right and head back to the banks of the Seine. Walk along the Étang de la Grosse Pierre, continue along the Seine and arrive near the Étang du Gallardon. Follow the signposted GRP® trail, which remains within sight of the pond. You will come to an opening in a fence.
(3) Reach a road and turn left to return to the banks of the Seine. Follow the banks of the Seine to the right until you reach the foot of the bridge. Climb the steps, turn left to cross the Seine via the bridge. Immediately descend the bridge via the ramp on the left and reach the right bank of the Seine.
(4) Turn right after 100 m to enter Parc Senet: there are plenty of benches for a picnic. After your picnic, return to the banks of the Seine.
(4) Continue along the Seine for 200 m to the right until you reach a small roundabout. Take Rue Cadot on the right, then the narrow lane that runs to the left of the theatre and ends in a flight of steps. At the top, turn left and visit Saint-Martin Church. Go underneath it and continue under the railway line, then take the first street on the right. You’ll arrive at Place des Marronniers. Turn slightly left, then cross the road to find a flight of steps.
(5) Climb the steps, then continue straight ahead along a narrow path. At the end of the path, continue almost straight ahead onto Rue Octave Mirbeau. Continue to the forest, then follow a wire fence to the left, along the edge of the forest. Ignore the first path branching off to the right and follow the fence until a bend to the left at a low point.
(6) Take the well-marked path that climbs to the right. Continue along the best-marked path, which winds its way uphill. When you reach a T-junction on a sort of military ridge, take the path to the right and then stay on the edge of the plateau. The path then turns left and joins a complex junction of several paths.
(7) Start by heading right, due south (opposite two trees marked with an orange-painted H). After 50 m, at a Fork in the road, turn left, then again, 50 m further on, take the path that branches off to the left at a right angle. Then stay on the main path, which is lined with numerous signs clearly indicating: Danger, No Entry, Risk of Collapse, Underground Quarries. Indeed, you can see numerous chasms on either side of the path. The path runs more or less along the edge of the plateau before veering left and reaching the D22.
(8) Reported on 18 May 2026
>Caution at point 8: the path is closed in both directions due to reported risks of collapse; instead, take the GR®2 further down to cross from east to west
Cross the road very carefully: there is no pedestrian crossing! On the other side, there are two memorial stones: one in memory of the cyclist Pascal Jules, the other commemorating the first hill climb race (27/11/1898). Enter the forest to take the Chemin du Cordon (signposted). At the crossroads, continue straight ahead along the Chemin de la Grande Rue until the end of the descent after the care home.
(9) At the left-hand bend, take the Sente des Cures to the right for 40 metres, then immediately left onto a path running alongside the fields. Walk straight down to the D55.
(10) Cross it very carefully, and turn left to the information board, which helps you make sense of the sweeping panorama before you.
(11) Walk back along the D55.
(10) Head down to the left along the Sentier des Barils, which further down becomes Rue des Barils. At the end, turn left to walk alongside the railway cutting. Cross the bridge over the railway tracks, then turn right along the cemetery wall. Enter the cemetery to see the Carolingian cross and the (replica of the) Merovingian stone.
(12) On leaving the cemetery, turn left to continue along the railway cutting. The path ends in a flight of steps. When you reach the street, turn left. Walk down Impasse des Barils, continue up the steps, then turn left towards Saint-Germain Church.
(13) Go round the church on the left and walk down the alley to the Seine. Take the riverbank on the left and walk a short way up the Oise.
(14) Go under a bridge, then go up the ramp on the left and cross the Oise. At the end of the bridge, go down the ramp on the left. At the bottom, cross the street, turn right, then left into the small car park. At the far end, take the stairs leading to the station (E).
