Claverdon CP walks

This short trail stakes you through gently rolling farmland, past small pockets of woodland and across the Grand Union Canal and its “stairway to heaven” flight of locks at Hatton.

A circular cycle nearly all on minor roads, and a section of towpath that starts at the longest canal aqueduct in England.

This trail takes you from the station at Hatton who’s most notable landmark is the Hatton Locks – a lovely location to watch colourful narrowboats as they move through the flight of 21 locks, onto the Lapworth and Kingswood via the towpath of the Grand Union Canal. An easy five-mile amble following the towpath of the Grand Union Canal through some of Warwickshire’s finest countryside.

Includes two Stratford on Avon Canal Aqueducts, Parkland and good views.

On this trail you’ll discover some of Warwickshire’s most glorious countryside as you meander from the ancient village of Bearley. Recorded in the Domesday Book, Bearley has links with the Shakespeare family through Mary Arden, Shakespeare’s mother. Bearley is also home to the Bearley Vineyard whose wines can be purchased at village stores, local wine merchants and local National Trust properties

This circular walk starts at The Boot Inn Lapworth on the B4439 south east of Hockley Heath. Initially the route follows the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal, leaving this at Drawbridge Farm to follow a delightful section of the Millennium Way. This is walk 35 from the 44 composing the Millenium Way.

This popular linear trail starts at Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway station, and follows the canal towpath to the village of Wilmcote and Mary Arden’s Farm. A gentle wander along the banks of the Stratford- upon-Avon canal as far as Wilmcote, Shakespeare’s mother’s family home.

This circular walk will take you through farmland and around the privately owned Mockley Wood, one of the larger woodlands in this part of Warwickshire. In the springtime, be sure to peer into the wood and see the unending, sweet smelling carpet of bluebells. Keep your eyes peeled for the rather incongruous rusting truck hidden in the undergrowth on the return leg - a local landmark!

This circular walk passes two interesting landmarks, namely Packwood House and St. Giles Church which are both worthy of a visit. This medieval market town needs no introduction as the birthplace of Shakespeare (he’s buried here too) and this trail will help you discover the key sites inked to England’s most famous playwright.
Follow in the footsteps of the bard himself on an easy wander to explore just about everything Shakespeare related in Stratford-upon-Avon.

During the early part of the walk you will follow a short section of the Millennium Way along the Grand Union Canal and, after walking some delightful open, flat countryside, will rejoin it at Temple Balsall. Here you may wish to take a short detour to visit the church of St Mary at Temple Balsall which has connections with the Knights Templar. This is walk 32 from the 44 composing the Millenium Way.

This easy circular walk is a good way to discover differently the famous city of Stratford-upon-Avon walking historical streets and places. Then, you will use nice paths along the banks of the River Avon including Shakespeare's Avon Way.
