The walk is mostly flat and crosses some delightful farmland with an opportunity to visit Inkberrow Church dating from the 13th century and take refreshments at a choice of pubs in the village. This popular linear trail starts at Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway station, and follows the canal towpath to the village of Wilmcote and Mary Arden’s Farm. A gentle wander along the banks of the Stratford- upon-Avon canal as far as Wilmcote, Shakespeare’s mother’s family home.

This medieval market town needs no introduction as the birthplace of Shakespeare (he’s buried here too) and this trail will help you discover the key sites inked to England’s most famous playwright.

The walk takes in the lovely rolling Cotswold fields, before a view of Foxcote Manor and a walk along the top of the Cotswold Escarpment, taking in breathtaking views North out as far as Birmingham and Coventry.
Drop down to the lovely National Trust property at Hidcote for tea and cake, before a return through fields and hamlets to sit by the pub fire with a well earned pint.

Recorded in the Domesday Book, Bearley has links with the Shakespeare family through Mary Arden, Shakespeare’s mother.
