Via Notre-Dame du Puy du Bassin

A very pleasant circular route through fields and woods, with no major difficulties, in the heart of the Xaintrie Blanche, taking you to the region’s highest point, the Puy du Bassin, which rises to 709 m.

Description of the walk

Park along the road by the Dézéjouls chapel.

(S/E) Head north to go round the village on the left.

(1) As you leave the village, turn left.

(2) Shortly afterwards, ignore a path branching off to the right and stay on the road until you reach the Croisement des Tilleuls junction with the D75.

(3) Cross the road carefully and follow the path opposite to the Notre-Dame du Puy du Bassin Chapel.

(4) Walk past the chapel and continue along the path (marked for mountain bikes) to the D72.

(5) Turn right, follow this road and, at a three-way junction marked with a cross, continue to the right.

(6) Just before you leave the forest, take the path through the woods, which heads right then turns left towards the north-west and rejoins the D75.

(7) Follow it for about 300 m.

(8) At a bend, just before a ‘dangerous bends’ sign, take the path on the right and continue to the road you took at the start of the walk.

(2) Follow the road to the left.

(1) At the three-way junction, turn left. At the next junction, turn right. Join the D72 and follow it to the right. Take the second right to reach the Chapelle de Dézéjouls immediately (S/E).
