Goring-on-Thames walks

A scenic walk with far-reaching views over the Thames Valley. Two short, steep climbs and a longer one, less steep to the top of the escarpment. The path in the wood may be muddy in places.

This circular walk is stile free. There is a steepening climb to the top of Streatley Hill and a steep descent from Lardon Chase.

A lovely stile-free walk from Goring on the east of the Thames. Walk from the village out into the wooded areas to the east.

A walk along the Thames and then a climb and wooded walk back to Goring. (Route 1)

An easy circular walk (Route 3) along a beautiful part of the Thames from Goring.

The Ridgeway the other way. The National Trail from North-East to South-West. The fourth stage is a broad track for a considerable distance, mostly with a natural surface and few hedges. Here the sky dominates but it can be particularly exposed in wet, cold or hot weather.

On this walk, you will be able to visit the Goring Gap, oldest road, charcoal burning, beech woods and bluebells, a Maharajah's well, bangers and mash, red kites and a nature reserve.

A medium length but easy walk along the Ridgeway and the Thames.

A long walk involving two uphill stretches. South Stoke – Mongewell Park – Watch Folly – South Stoke.

A short easy walk along the Thames on the outward leg.

This is a stile-free circular walk around Pangbourne countryside and along River Thames.

This walk has a long climb to the high point above Sulham Wood with lovely views across the Thames Valley then downhill to the lock followed by level walking along the river.

A hilly walk from the River Thames through bluebell woods to the hospitable village of Theale in the Kennet

A level walk with no stiles to climb on mostly good paths. The route goes past Agatha Christie’s grave and into the twin villages of Aston Tirrold and Aston Upthorpe.

A fairly short walk with a steady climb to start and a shorter steeper climb towards the end.

An easy walk with no steep gradients. Hailey – Forest Row – Ipsden – Hailey.

A varied walk. Some gentle hills at first with good views across the open countryside. The second half of the walk is along the Thames Path. Some boggy sections to be avoided. There are no stiles but one awkward footbridge to cross.

A long a steady climb over the second quarter of the walk, thereafter an easy walk back.
