Cowley to Shotover, Oxford
This circular walk goes through three SSSIs from urban Oxford. Starting from urban Cowley, walk up to the top of Shotover country park SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) for nature and views to the South West, then through Rock Edge SSSI, for Upper Jurassic limestone, and then through Lye Valley SSSI to experience nationally rare calcareous fen habitat from the last ice age.

Then, follow paths (Palladian and Wychwood Ways) in the countryside following River Evenlode until you reach the remains of a large Roman courtyard villa. You finally go back to Woodstock using a section of Oxfordshire Way.

A level walk with no stiles to climb on mostly good paths. The route goes past Agatha Christie’s grave and into the twin villages of Aston Tirrold and Aston Upthorpe.
Wantage to Ogbourne St George, The Ridgeway the Other Way
The Ridgeway the other way. The National Trail from NE to SW. The fifth Stage is probably the most remote section of The Ridgeway, with some wonderful views and prehistoric monuments to enjoy.
