Le rideau de Favery, short version

Rideau: a rather local term for a hedge of copses to break the wind, which is commonly found on this hilly route in the heart of the green Vimeu region. There are some lovely stretches along the banks of the Trie and a ford near the Chaussoy manor house that is well worth admiring before tackling a steep climb through the undergrowth. This route is signposted by the local council, but this version is a shortened one.

Description of the walk

Moyenneville Town Hall car park: very large.

(S/E) With your back to the church, walk past the school and the village hall, then take the road on the left towards Miannay.

(1) Take the first path on the right just after the last house and you will reach a fork just before a wooded area.

(2) Do not continue on the marked path, but take the path on the left, which joins the route further on, shortening it for the first time. You will find the markings again at a place called Dessus les Enfers.

(3) Turn left and join the Route de Miannay at a place called Les Enfers.

(4) Make a short first turn right then left turn to join the road leading to Bouillancourt.

(5) Take the path on the right and across the fields, following the marked route.

(6) Turn left before the Fond Saint-Pierre descent, rejoin the tarmac road and cross the bridge over the Trie.

(7) Turn left onto the departmental road, then take the path that climbs to the right just above the Camping du Val de Trie campsite. Climb steadily until you reach the edge of the Bois de l'Étroit forest and take the path on the left to walk along it.

(8) Leave the marked route by taking the path on the left across the fields and rejoin the trail above Chaussoy.

(9) Continue downhill towards Chaussoy, joining the D86 opposite the Manoir de Chaussoy: admire it without going inside. Continue right on the district road and walk for about a hundred metres.

(10) Turn left to take the wooden bridge over the Trie, then cross the small ford. Continue through the undergrowth on a beautiful climb and come out onto the plateau.

(11) Ignore the path on the left that leads back to Bouillancourt, go straight ahead and follow a small copse further on.

(12) Turn right at a 90° angle, leaving the marked route, and join the D22.

(13) Take it on the left to reach the centre and return to the town hall car park (S/E).
