Route of the Lisière Trail in Marpiré

After walking through the undergrowth of the Chevré Forest, you will discover this vast plateau via wide paths and small country lanes, where fields of grain blend with green meadows, ending as you began with a walk through the Bois de Briérue and the Orée du Bois lake near La Lisière.

Description of the walk

The entire route is signposted with small signs bearing a Green Triangle and the route number: 56 of the Vitré Community.
The description below was written by "Le Randonneur Breton".

Park in the car park of the mini-market just before the cemetery.

(S/E) Set off northwards with your back to the church. Turn left into the first street, Rue de la Cotière, and walk right through the housing estate. At the end of the estate, at the T-junction, turn right and walk for about a hundred metres.

(1) Turn left and walk due west. When you reach the road, follow it to the left, then immediately take the path on the right and turn right again before the wooden gate. The forest track runs more or less along the edge of the forest; stay on the main track at all times, following the round orange markers (markings specific to the forest).

(2) When you reach a road at the edge of the forest, turn right. Cross the Haute Noë and then, at the Fork in the road at Launay Posson, turn right to reach the D103 road.

(3) Turn left onto it for 50 m, then take the path on the right. Follow it as it bends to the right until you reach Village Neuf. Follow the road opposite for about a hundred metres. Leave it at the right-hand bend and continue straight ahead on the path heading east, then turn right and then left just before a long farm building in the hamlet of Les Landes.

(4) Turn left: straight ahead is thefirst alternative route, see below. Continue along the road as it continues. At the T-junction at La Cabelière, turn right, then left at the junction for the town of Meaux. Ignore Bas de Pâtis on the left and enter the hamlet of Les Boularderies.

(5) Pass the start of thesecond alternative route on your right (see below) and turn left 10 metres further on. At the edge of the woods, follow the path to the right. Keep right at the Fork in the road.

(6) Ignore the connecting path on the left and head right. At the road, continue left and pass Les Hatonnais on your left. In the distance, you can see the bell tower of Val d’Izé church.

(7) Continue straight on, ignoring thesecond connecting path on the left and then two roads on the right. At the left-hand bend, turn right towards Bois Roux. Continue along the path as it extends, reaching Les Landelles and then the D105 road.

(8) Follow it to the left for 50 m, then take the path on the right. Continue straight on until you reach another path.

(9) Turn left and head towards the road at Rocher Poilane.

(10) Turn right towards the west. The path then heads north before turning west again and ending on a road. Turn left and, very quickly, take a path on the right which turns left towards the woods.

(11) Enter the Bois de la Lisière and follow the path until it reaches the lake. At the lake, turn left to reach the road.

(12) Follow it to the left for a good hundred metres, then take the path on the right. In front of the houses, turn left onto the path. Continue to the right along the access road to the sewage treatment plant.

(13) Turn right to head west and reach the village of Marpiré. At the road, turn left to reach the car park (S/E).

The walk took place in overcast weather with a light shower.
This walk follows a mix of roads and sunken paths which, despite the dry conditions, are quite muddy in places. Please take care in wet weather or after heavy rain, as some sections may be heavily flooded.
The GPX track in the Corbière forest is slightly off the current path. The path on the ground is easy to follow and poses no problems.
