Lower Western fells

A walk taking in four Wainwright summits, with views of 4 lakes and the skyline of the High Western fells. The walk can be taken either clockwise or anticlockwise.

Description of the walk

(S/E) From the car park, head west to Watergate Farm.

(1) After Watergate Farm, follow the diagonal path through Holme Wood.

(2) At the junction of three tracks, take a bearing if necessary to the summit of Burbank Fell.

(3) Follow the main path to Blake Fell passing pile of stones. Then, by staying on the same main path heading south, you'll pass Gavel Fell and White Oak.

(4) Turn left and then right after Sheepfold at the corner of the boundary wall towards Great Borne. After the summit of Great Borne, head south-east to join Starling Dodd.

(5) Retrace your steps to (4) and just before this waypoint, take the path on your right and stay on the left of it to join Hen Comb.

(6) Go down Hen Comb heading west to a footpath above Whiteoak Beck.

(7) Turn right on the footpath, follow to High Nook farm, then back to the car park (S/E)
