From Wayrham Through Painsthorpe
Departure from Kirby Underdale (East Riding of Yorkshire)
This walk includes all the typical features of the Yorkshire Wolds, an extensive limestone plateau interlaced with secluded, narrow, twisting dales. It starts by making use of three linking dales to come out onto the plateau where there are views from the scarp edge over the Vale of York and, as the plateau is crossed, views down into other dales and eventually across the Humber into Lincolnshire. The return makes use of another dale, a stretch of Roman road, and an old drove way.
From Thixendale through Kirby Underdale

This walk in the Yorkshire Wolds provides a mixture of walking through quiet secluded dales and across the wide open spaces of a limestone plateau with extensive views over the Vale of York. It starts and finishes in the village of Thixendale which has a pub and a small shop.
Wharram Percy (Disused Railway & Medieval Village)

A short walk following the route of the disused Malton to Driffield railway, taking in the old station, sidings, chalk quarry and abandoned medieval village of Wharram Percy itself. The walk can be made a mile shorter by retracing your steps after looking at the medieval village and taking the shortcut back to the car park, along Centenary Way.
Cowlam & Cottam - Yorkshire Wolds

A walk with interesting history throughout, from a Church dating from 1100 to 1939 WW2 runways now abandoned. Also includes the Abandoned church at Cottam and the remains of a Medieval Village.
There are a few optional versions of this walk, if you are familiar with OS map use there are many footpaths marked out to make this walk either longer or shorter. The route provided intends to give the walker the most interesting route of things to see!
Drewton Estate loop

Starting at the church in North Cave this walk takes in the pretty Drewton Estate, and then loops round using the High Hunsley Circuit to North Newbald. From there the walk makes it's way to the beautiful village of Hotham before returning to North Cave.
Barton upon Humber Waters Edge circular

Troutsdale

This North York Moors walk has a feel of remoteness despite being only 12 miles from Scarborough. Good views into the Troutsdale and Upper Derwent valleys although the area does suffer from large expanses of forest. The route is generally easy to follow.
Filey Town

Starting from Filey Country Park Car Park, this circular walk takes in the beach, seafront and town. There are plenty of places to stop off for lunch or coffee and attractions such as crazy golf and parks along the way.
Bempton Cliffs from Flamborough

A linear East Yorkshire walk that visits some of the most dramatic cliffs in the area. This walk is an ideal chance to have a piucnic by the sea. Don't forget to take your binoculars as the cliffs are busy with nesting seabirds in season.
Flamborough Head from Flamborough

Flamborough Head in the East Riding of Yorkshire is one the great coastal features of the British Isles. In late spring the area is also well known for its abundant birdlife. With the North Yorks Moors so near it is easy to be a bit dismissive about East Yorkshire but a walk around Flamborough Head should serve to demonstrate that parts of this coast are as fine as anything further north.

Scarborough to Filey along the Cleveland Way

This linear North Yorkshiore walk connects Scraborough and Filey using the Cleveland Way. There is a regular bus service connecting the start and end.
Scarborough Town, South Bay

This town walk connects the harbour, beach, town centre, art gallery museum and other south bay attractions enabling a shorter walk or a day walk including visits to the attractions in this part of Scarborough. The South Cliff Gardens and Spa area afford views across the south bay back towards the castle and town and are a lovely place to relax on a sunny day.
England Coast Path - Scarborough

This section of the England Coast Path takes in the coastline of Scarborough, a popular holiday resort. Although the section is relatively short, it takes in so many diversions, it could well take all day. It is relatively flat and paved for its entire length making it fully accessible.
Scarborough Town - North Bay

This walk takes in the England Coast Path from Scalby Mills to Scarborough Harbour as well as some of the North Bay attractions making this a full day walk if you wish to visit some of these attractions.
Dundale Pond from Levisham

A short walk in the North York Moors National Park. The start is the village of Levisham and the route takes you into Newton Dale before returning via Dundale Pond back to the start.
Hayburn Wyke from Scalby, Near Scarborough

The North York Moors route uses a coastal section of the Cleveland Way north of Scarborough and returns along the route of the old railways.
From Cawthorne Roman Camp

The North York Moors walk starts from at the Cawthorne Roman Camp site just north of Cawthorne. The circular route takes in sections of the Tabular Hills Walk and Cropton forest walks, the Seven valley and Cropton Banks. On completion of the route there is a circuit of the Roman camps with a panorama which includes a good deal of the walk you have just completed.
Nunnington & Harome from Oswaldkirk

This North Yorkshire walk is full of interest, visiting three villages, the rivers Rye and Riccal, a section of old railway and a section of the Ebor Way. The route also starts from an excellent pub.

The Hole of Horcum and Skelton Tower Viewpoint

An interesting walk around and then through the geological feature known as The Hole of Horcum. There is a detour to the ruin of Skelton Tower and from there good views of the steam engines running on the North Yorkshire Moors Historical Railway. The rim of the hole has the remains of Iron Age earth workings taking the form of dykes.
England Coast Path - Crook Ness to Peasholm

This is a relatively short section which follows grass paths along cliff tops providing views of Scarborough Castle and the spectacular coastline for the entire way. This section ends at Scarborough's North Bay allowing time to enjoy the beach or any of Scarborough's North Bay attractions.
Rievaulx Abbey from Helmsley and back

This is a short walk from the car park next to Helmsley Castle. This is good for a short winter day or a longer day if you want to explore the ruins of the castle and then walk over to Rievaulx Abbey and explore it too. There is a good cafe at Rievaulx Abbey and a good selection of shops in Helmsley.
Beck Dale & Rievaulx from Helmsley

This North York Moors walk starts from Helmsley and takes in Beck Dale, the River Rye & Rievaulx Abbey before joining the final stage of the Cleveland Way from Rievaulx Bridge back to Helmsley.
Spaunton Moor from Chimney Bank

A North York Moors walk that is never too strenuous. The route offers some fine views into the Seven Valley with some wonderful moorland walking. In poor visibility a sense of direction and good map reading skills are essential.

A pleasant and interesting circular walk from Rosedale Abbey. Farmland, open moors and the remains of the old iron ore mine workings and railway. Lovely half way tea room at Dale Head Farm.
A circular tour of Farndale: ridge top and valley bottom

This lovely walk takes you on a tour of upper Farndale; a delightful and peaceful valley in the North York Moors. Starting at Low Mill it heads immediately uphill onto Blakey Ridge and follows the old iron ore railway towards the head of the dale, with great views, before descending into farmland and eventually taking the riverside path back to Low Mill. Where the walking is on the road these are quiet and traffic will be infrequent.
