Description of the walk

Start: Small car park in Orthwaite village by the farm, (CA7 1HL) Grid ref. NY 252 341

(S/E) From the farm walk on the road (South) to exit the little village.

(1) After a couple of meters, take left on the path that leads to a gate with the name Udale Commons on it. Follow this path (South) until you see a marked trail on the left which goes up towards Brockle Crag (South-East).

(2) At the top of Brockle Crag take the path opposite which goes down slightly towards the river (East). Follow the path nearly until reaching the river (do not cross it) where you need to take left on the path (North-East) that will follow the river. Good navigation skills are needed as the path is not really visible. Follow Burntod Gill until reaching Trusmadoor.

(3) Turn left (North-West) to take the path towards Trusmadoor keep on this path that will bend left (West) to cross Dale Gill. Good navigation skills are needed as the path is not really visible. Keep on this path (West) that passes in the middle of the valley between Little Cockup and Castle How. Keep on the path until reaching the initial path.

(1) Turn right, to find the road and walk back to the car. (S/E)
