Stage 7 Devon's Coast-to-Coast : Morchard Bishop to Knowstone

There are basically two parts to the seventh stage; Morchard Bishop to Witherage and then Witherage to Knowstone, both 8 milers and through interesting Mid Devon agricultural landscape. We follow the River Datch for a while to reach Washford Pyne, then follow the Little Dart River. We meet the Ridge and Valley Walk at Witherage and, cross over the A 371.

Kingswear to Coleton Fishacre coast path circular

This is a (mostly) circular walk that takes in a short section of the South West Coast Path and passes sub-tropical plants, dramatic cliffs and WW2 relics on a route that skirts the beautiful Coleton Fishacre house and gardens. The path is clearly marked and well-trodden. There are several steep sections and plenty of steps, but there are lovely views as compensation.
Dartmouth Castle, Gallants Bower and Compass Cove – Defences of the Dart

Small but perfectly formed, this satisfying circuit is full of character and interest, offering glorious views from the cliffs, the tang of the sea close up on the rocky shore, the rich history of the castle and the beautiful River Dart. This circular walk can also be started at Dartmouth Castle. You can use the Castle ferry from Dartmouth, to reach the alternative start of this walk.

A Criss-Cross of Bridges

Take in a lively stretch of the River Tone, a new wildlife mural, and the Mill Stream running through Goodland Gardens. Visit by day you’ll see Little Egrets hunting for fish, and at dusk, you might be joined by bats who are out hunting for their supper.
Blackbrook Meander

A gentle meander alongside Blackbrook and around pleasant Hamilton Gault Park. The stream is a traffic-free route for wildlife in and out of the town, including otters and water voles. Come out on a summer evening and watch bats flying above your head catching insects.

Stage 8 Devon's Coast-to-Coast : Knowstone to YHA Exford

Stage 8 takes us into Exmoor National Park and back to some high ground but mostly it's a riverside walk along the River Barle that is a tributary to the River Exe that flows all the way to the south Devon coast at Exmouth. The route goes over Tar Steps near Hawkridge and has the option of finishing at Withypool or continuing to Exford to stay at the YHA.
Slapton
