Enjoy a mostly level walk with no stiles between Wargrave to Twyford railway stations. A shorter version is available to avoid some muddy paths in the Stanlake area but there is no footway across the railway bridge and care needs to be taken.

An undulating walk through woods and fields on the higher ground to the north-east of Wargrave. Tree roots can be a hazard in the woods. There are no stiles. Sir Stanley Spencer was one of the most important painters of the 20th century. This walk will take you round his home village, a place he regarded as ‘heaven on earth’. It also ventures out into the surrounding countryside and alongside the Thames. The locations of several of his paintings are highlighted in the description with more details in the "to do or see" section.
